Fall in Love with Charming Porvoo

Atmospheric and idyllic Old Porvoo with its cozy cafés and cute boutiques will make you sigh of delight. Spend a memorable day in Porvoo with our top tips!

One of my favourite spots to watch Porvoo is the Näsi rock on the west coast of the river. You'll get a nice view of the river and the town from there, and can come up with your beautiful plans for the day. There are nice forest pathways around there which take you over to the old cannons and the bridge leading to Old Town of Porvoo.

Old Town is a must for everyone visiting Porvoo for the first time. There are some nice and sweet little boutiques and places to grab a bite or a drink. You can find lots of unique and local crafts and cuisine there. One spot to check while wandering around is the beautiful Cathedral of Porvoo, a classic place to visit for every first-timer in town. The little streets and alleys invite the visitor to take beautiful travel pictures which you can share with your circles or just save for your own recollections.

The riverside on the east side of the river is also very nice and offers multiple choices for different types of dining. On the edge of Old Town you can find Porvoon Paahtimo, where they roast their own coffee right next door. There are also various beers and wines available, which just might become your new favorites.

If delicious street food is your thing, during summertime I recommend Kiva Bar & Streetfood some blocks down the river from Paahtimo. Its name Kiva actually translates as nice, which is a descriptive word for the place. Although it may be busy especially during the beautiful summer days, the food is worth the little wait and the staff is friendly.

If you're in town with kids, they can get all hyped up in the town park of Porvoo. There's an exciting water fountain and a super cool Moomin play field, where children can get rid of their extra energy. To educate the kids a little, there's a toy museum in the Old Town, and it is definitely worth a visit. The parents may get nostalgic there as well.

To sum it up, Porvoo is a really nice town for visitors of all ages and interests. I give my warmest recommendations for everyone planning a day trip from Helsinki.
