Spend a Night in Hell of Lapland

from 270 €
This mythical, historical adventure takes you to sleep next to an ancient holy lake of the Sámi people.
The Hell of Lapland is a legendary, 60 meters deep lake Pakasaivo, located in Muonio. It is a so called “saivo”, a mythical place where our world is connected to the underworld through the deep water. It is said the lake is bottomless - on the other side there is also a lake, by which creatures from Sámi mythology are living. Among them, the dead spirits roam.

Here, the Sámi people used to come and worship. Now you have the possibility to come here to feel the magic at night time. We make a fire and enjoy dinner, and sleep in tents, hammocks or a teepee. The place has a special feel to it. Maybe it is the grand steep walls surrounding the lake, maybe it is something beyond our consciousness. In the morning we have breakfast and discuss the vivid dreams this place makes you see.

The holy Pakasaivo lake is the largest giant’s kettle formation in Finland and definitely worth experiencing, whether you like geology or mythology. A truly special experience.
