Experience a one-day canoeing trip along one of the most beautiful small wild rivers in Lapland.
Canoeing offers a great way to experience the mesmerizing peacefulness of nature. Äkäsriver is a unique river for canoeing. As you glide effortlessly and quietly through the waters, you become part of the landscape.The route is easy and suitable for beginners. During this comfortable trip we reach places of such great natural beauty and feel the charm of pure nature.  

We will start the day by getting acquainted with paddling techniques and practice canoeing in easy conditions. During the exercises we will practise how to steer the canoe and what to do if the canoe capsizes. After the training we shall continue towards the river. During the day we will cover a distance of about 20 km, but we will have several breaks and enjoy a leisurely lunch surrounded by the beautiful wilderness.  

This adventure is well suited for both beginners and people who want challenge themselves. The weather can be unpredictable changing from sunny to heavy rains and strong winds. The temperatures can vary from very cool (zero degrees) to fairly hot (above 25 degrees Celcius).

Ylläs is located 150 km north of the Arctic Circle in Lapland. The Ylläs Fell rises between Ylläsjärvi and Äkäslompolo, two authentic Lappish villages. The seven fells of the area offer a year-round wonderland. In the beautiful and popular Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park you can breathe in the cleanest air in the entire world and do a bunch of nature activities in a gorgeous nature setting.

Traveling in the destination area is not completely unobstructed depending on reduced mobility or other disability. Please contact our customer care if needed and read more.
 Appropriate outdoor clothing: thermal underwear, trousers, preferably a rain jacket and hiking boots. One set of extra dry clothing is also recommended in case you get wet.
