THE NORDIC SEASONS
Winter, spring, summer or fall? The land, the people and the ambience change when the season changes. Finland is a land full of gorgeous and captivating contrasts. Start exploring by choosing the season which fascinates you the most.
Skiing (downhill & cross-country), snowboarding, snowshoeing, dog sledding, ice fishing, tour skating on natural ice and dipping into the frozen lake from a steaming sauna. The Finnish winter offers various gorgeous activities in the nature and an endorphin rush is guaranteed in many of them. Winter in Finland spans from December to March and in Northern Finland to May. Southern Finland might get proper winter only in February, but there’s often plenty of snow on the skiing slopes in Lapland. The prime skiing season in Lapland extends from February to May.

EXPERIENCES / WINTER
The sound of ice crackling when it melts in the spring sun, the hopeful light green that bursts forth in sprouts and swallows twirling against the bright blue sky. Spring is the most versatile of the four seasons in Finland: for example, in late April in Helsinki you can sit on the terrace of a beautiful café and enjoy the sun beams and people swirling by in their spring jackets. Meanwhile in Lapland the tempting slopes are alluring the skiers and the temperature is just perfect (a bit below zero). As the warm sun rays caress your cheekbones you can’t help but smile, big time.

EXPERIENCES / SPRING
What is the one best thing about the Finnish summer? Impossible to say really, because summer in Finland offers so many sweet treats and stunning surprises. The tasty sugar peas and lush strawberries, biking in the city center at midnight when it is fully bright outside, skinny dipping in the clear lakes, magical midsummer traditions, original and a bit quirky events all over the country and experiencing the local way of life in a cozy Finnish summer house right by the water. We Finns are passionate about summer. It’s short, but we do our very best to make it as sweet as possible.

EXPERIENCES / SUMMER
The color palette of the Finnish autumn shines in the gorgeous tones of red, yellow, orange, purple, green and brown. The ruska season, the autumn foliage, refers to the time when the leaves of the trees change color to various stunning color combinations. Crisp autumn mornings, the color splendor of the fall foliage, a wedge of cranes crossing the bright blue sky and the golden glow of the sunrays: there is stunning magic in the Finnish autumn.
